Yvette Nicole Dark-brown (born Baronial 12, 1971) is an American actress, comedian, author, and host. Brown starred every bit Shirley Bennett on the NBC comedy series Community, as Dani in the 2015 version of The Odd Couple on CBS, and equally Dina Rose on the ABC sitcom The Mayor. Dark-brown has also had guest roles in television shows such equally Drake & Josh, That '70s Prove, The Office, Boston Legal, Chuck, The Soul Man, Mom, and Large Shot. In 2021, she received a Primetime Emmy Honor nomination for her role in A Black Lady Sketch Show.

In addition to television, she has had supporting roles in films such as (500) Days of Summertime, Tropic Thunder, Repo Men, Percy Jackson: Body of water of Monsters, and Avengers: Endgame. She also voiced "Harper" from the video game Minecraft: Story Mode in add-on to Cookie on Pound Puppies, Luna on Elena of Avalor and Master Amanda Waller on DC Super Hero Girls. She has hosted Syfy cosplay series Cosplay Melee and has been a frequent couch guest on Talking Dead. Yvette Nicole Brown was born on Baronial 12, 1971, in East Cleveland, Ohio.[1] She graduated from Warrensville Heights High School in 1989.[2] Brownish studied communication studies at the Academy of Akron and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in communication in 1994.[3] [4] While at Akron she was selected for initiation into Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honors Society. She crossed into the University of Akron'due south Delta Pi affiliate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on May 2, 1993.

Later graduating, Brown took acting classes in Hollywood, Los Angeles.[5]

Career [edit]

Chocolate-brown appeared as "Yvette" in the music video "1-four-All-4-one" by the Due east Coast Family, a Michael Bivins project, for Biv10 Records.[6] Brownish said of the experience, "It was a great run, simply I guess music was just never meant to be for me."[7]

Chocolate-brown outset appeared on commercials before inbound television shows and films a few years later.[viii] She has since played roles on television shows such as The War at Abode, Girlfriends, Malcolm in the Heart, That'south So Raven, Half & One-half, and the American version of The Office. She too had a recurring role equally movie theater director Helen Dubois in the Nickelodeon sitcom Drake & Josh. Frances Callier replaced Brownish as Helen for one episode. In 2009, Brown began starring every bit Shirley Bennett on the comedy series Community. In 2014, it was reported that Brown was set to recur on the The states Network series Benched.[10] Shortly later her leave of Customs, Brown's role of Dani on the CBS sitcom The Odd Couple was upgraded to serial regular.[11] She has as well been a regular invitee on AMC's Talking Dead. She currently hosts Syfy cosplay series Cosplay Melee.

In July 2018, Brown temporarily replaced Chris Hardwick equally the host of Talking Dead and served equally moderator for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead panels at the San Diego Comic-Con during Hardwick'south suspension.[12]

Personal life [edit]

Brown was inducted into Warrensville Heights High School's hall of fame in 2009.[2] Brown serves on the SAG-AFTRA 2019-2021 National Lath.

Politics [edit]

Dark-brown endorsed and campaigned for Elizabeth Warren in the 2020 Autonomous Party presidential primaries.[15] She has been a critic of former U.S. President Donald Trump and then presidential candidate U.S Senator Bernie Sanders.

During the 2020 general election, Brown, forth with several of her Community castmates, made a campaign video in back up of Joe Biden, entitled "Homo Beings For Biden."[16]
